The 5 Love Languages
Valentine’s Day is officially over, but you can keep the flame going all year round! Have you ever heard of the 5 Love Languages? Learning about these languages has literally changed my life and has helped me in sooo many different kinds of relationships. Of course I’m not great at speaking other folks’ languages, but I am working on it! And it’s so much easier to try when my own “Love Cup” is full. (Meaning I have either filled myself with love via self care and loving myself through my own language, or being loved by someone else through my own language.)
Here are the breakdowns of each language. We all RECEIVE love through one language, and some of us will actually GIVE love through another! It’s so important to know your language (how you give and how you receive), and the language of those closest in relationship to you.
My love language is quality time. So when folks give me gifts, I appreciate them, but they won’t fill up my love cup the way asking me to coffee will. (Unless of course it’s a gift that actually took some time and thought and is personal to me. Then I appreciate the time put into thinking about me. 🥰) My hubby is physical touch. This one does NOT come naturally to me. 😂 He appreciates time with me, but would also like to hold my hand or have some kind of physical contact with me while we are watching TV or spending time together. You see how helpful this information is and why it’s so easy to butt heads in relationship?! If we are all speaking different languages, it leaves room for a LOT of hurt. 😞
You can take the free quiz to see what your love language is at this link, and then come back here and read through these graphics to learn more about yourself, your closest relationships, AND what you need for self care!
